A Grateful mother and partner, I love the way my children, family life, and immediate environment all shape the way I experience the world. Actively finding meaning in the small, sometimes insignificant moments that make up my day reminds me of how worthwhile this life is. Drawing, making, pursuing a focus or line of thought keep me grounded, keep me real. While it’s not always easy, and sometimes I’m not even good at it, I continue to practice. I believe that practice is worth more than getting it right the first and every time. I believe with practice can come growth and well-being, to myself and those around me.
Where does art fit into this? For me, art is a process of discovery. Its finding meaning in the simplest of things and attempting to share it with you. Sometimes I find meaning in an a material or object. Sometimes it's from a moment or a conversation with friend. I am not making anything new, I merely take what is at hand and try to re-contextualise it into something else again. It’s not always an easy or a comfortable thing; but I have come to think that this exchange is a good one. Our exchange is a good one and its one I hope will continue to be kept open.
